EDUCATEME4LIFE was established in 2014 as a scholarship dedicated to showing God’s love to young women who have children in high school and seek to further their education by establishing a career. This scholarship will provide funds to a college, trade school, or other forms of educational training.
Parenthood is the leading reason that teen girls drop out of school. More than 50% of teen mothers never graduate from high school. About 25% of teen moms have a 2nd child within 24 months of their first baby. Less than 2% of teen moms earn a college degree by age 30.
This scholarship is near and dear to me as I myself became pregnant while playing college volleyball at Texas Tech University. Through the love and support of my family, I still found a way to finish my degree and eventually receive a Master’s in Administration. As a former coach, I saw so many young ladies become pregnant with no father in the picture and no hope for a future. This scholarship can provide the means necessary to not become another tragic statistic. “You educate a man; you educate a man. You educate a woman; you educate a generation.” Brigham Young
